As preparations intensify for the IGP’s Honours and Award Night, the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, and the upcoming Democracy Day on June 12, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao Adewale, has announced enhanced security measures across the Federal Capital Territory.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the decision follows a high-level strategic meeting held on Monday with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and tactical team leaders.

To ensure maximum safety, the Commissioner directed a range of proactive actions including:

Increased visibility policing across the FCT
Deployment of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams to major public gathering spots
Swift response to all distress calls and emergency situations

CP Adewale also issued a strong warning against misconduct among officers, stressing that extortion, illegal searches, and unlawful interference in civil matters would not be tolerated. He emphasized the need for professionalism, accountability, and respect for human rights in all police operations.

In addition, the Commissioner urged officers to deepen community engagement, especially with youths, in order to build public trust and combat criminal activities effectively. He highlighted the importance of courtesy, discipline, and responsiveness as key to strengthening police-community relations.
