The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially released the dates for the 2026 governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states.
According to the timetable unveiled by INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, residents of Ekiti State will go to the polls on Saturday, July 20, 2026, while voters in Osun State will cast their ballots on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
The announcement was made during the swearing-in ceremony of six newly appointed Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs), who were recently confirmed by the National Assembly.

Yakubu emphasized the importance of early preparations to ensure free, fair, and credible elections in both states.
“The commission is finalising arrangements for bye-elections to fill vacant seats in the National and State Houses of Assembly,” Yakubu added.
