In a bid to tackle growing security challenges, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has announced an immediate suspension on the sale of petrol in Bama Local Government Area.

The decision, which was communicated in a statement by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, comes after thorough consultations with security agencies. It is part of the state’s broader strategy to enhance counter-insurgency efforts and curb the activities of armed groups in the region.

“I have directed the immediate ban on the sale of petrol in Bama town, Banki, and other parts of Bama Local Government Area with immediate effect,” Zulum stated.

He emphasized that violators of the new directive would be held accountable without exception.

“Let me make it clear—there will be no sacred cows in the enforcement of this ban. Security agencies have been given strict orders to clamp down on any filling station or individual contravening this directive. Anyone found culpable will be dealt with accordingly,” he warned.

Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and called on residents to support the ongoing campaign against insurgency.
