Tinubu meets Delta Governor Oborevwori at Aso Villa

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently holding a high-level meeting with Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, marking their first official engagement since the governor’s dramatic switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Oborevwori, accompanied by former PDP vice presidential candidate Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, arrived at the State House around 4 p.m. and was received for a closed-door session with the president.
Their recent defection has rocked Delta State’s political landscape, a region long dominated by the PDP. The shockwave intensified with the mass defection of 22 PDP lawmakers in the Delta State House of Assembly to the APC, effectively turning the legislative chamber into a one-party house.

The closed-door meeting is expected to shape the new political alignment in the South-South region and may herald broader shifts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
