Gov Yusuf signs law establishing 4 new agencies to drive development in Kano

In a bold move to enhance governance and spur sustainable development, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has signed into law the creation of four new government agencies.
The announcement was made on Friday in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa.
According to the statement, the newly established agencies are strategically designed to improve service delivery and economic growth across various sectors in the state. They include:
– Kano State Protection Agency (KASPA) – This agency will focus on safeguarding public assets and ensuring the protection of government infrastructure.
– Kano State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KASIAA) – Tasked with regulating outdoor advertising and signage, KASIAA aims to sanitize the urban landscape while generating revenue for the state.
– Kano State Information and Communication Technologies Development Agency (KASITDA) – KASITDA will spearhead the state’s digital transformation, focusing on technology-driven governance and innovation.
– Kano State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (KASMEDA) – This agency will provide support and empowerment for local entrepreneurs, fostering job creation and boosting the informal sector.

Dawakin-Tofa explained that the agencies are designed to encourage innovation, support the growth of small businesses, regulate advertising practices, and bolster public safety and service efficiency.
According to him, these institutions are also expected to contribute significantly to job creation, attract investment, and facilitate the smooth execution of government programs.
Governor Yusuf highlighted the importance of these agencies in advancing his administration’s goals. “The new agencies would help to realise his administration’s vision of a modern, inclusive, and economically vibrant Kano,” he said.
He also cautioned against any breaches of the newly signed laws, noting that “violations of the provisions of these laws would be met with strict penalties,” underscoring his administration’s dedication to the rule of law.
