As political activity ramps up in Anambra State in preparation for the upcoming gubernatorial election, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, has called for professionalism and neutrality among officers deployed for election-related duties.

During a strategic meeting with officers of the Anambra State Police Command on Thursday, April 4, 2025, CP Orutugu acknowledged the ongoing political party primaries in the state, where candidates are being selected to represent their parties in the election.

The CP emphasized the importance of maintaining impartiality, urging officers to carry out their duties with integrity, free from political influence. He also called on political candidates and their supporters to adhere to electoral laws and maintain decorum throughout the election process.

To maintain law and order, the Command has deployed personnel to key areas and is actively engaging with stakeholders to prevent potential conflicts. Security teams have been tasked with carrying out patrols, surveillance, traffic control, and working closely with sister security agencies to safeguard the process.

The CP appealed to members of the public to remain cooperative and law-abiding. He also encouraged anyone in need of security assistance to contact the Command Control Room via 07039194332 or the Public Relations Officer at 08039334002.

He reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to enforcing the rule of law and ensuring that all participants in the political process—politicians, supporters, and voters alike—respect the democratic framework.
