Czech teenager Jakub Mensik pulled off a sensational upset at the Miami Open, defeating world No. 1 Novak Djokovic 7-6, 7-6 to claim his first-ever ATP Tour title at Hard Rock Stadium.

The 19-year-old, ranked 54th in the world, delivered a fearless performance to deny Djokovic his 100th career title, marking a historic moment in his young career. Mensik’s triumph cements his status as one of the most promising rising stars in tennis.

The final was delayed for nearly six hours due to heavy rain, disrupting the players’ rhythm. When play finally resumed, Djokovic appeared to be struggling with an eye infection, which may have impacted his performance. Despite his condition, the 37-year-old Serbian fought hard, but Mensik held his nerve in two tiebreak sets to secure the victory.

Notably, this final featured the largest age gap in Masters 1000 history and the biggest age difference in any tour-level final since 1976. Djokovic, the oldest player to reach a Masters 1000 final, faced off against the youthful energy of Mensik, who showcased composure beyond his years.
