Police gun down 4 suspected kidnappers, recover AK-47 rifle

In a major breakthrough against criminal activities, operatives of the Delta State Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team have successfully neutralized four suspected kidnappers during a targeted operation. The security operatives also recovered an AK-47 rifle from the scene.
According to a statement released on Monday by the Delta State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the operation was carried out following intelligence provided by a previously arrested suspect.
The suspect, who was apprehended while attempting to purchase an AK-47 rifle, disclosed crucial information that led law enforcement agents to the criminals’ hideout.
Acting on this intelligence, the police stormed a bushy area along the railway line in Agbarho, where the suspects were reportedly camped. Upon engaging the security forces in a gun battle, the suspects were overpowered, resulting in their deaths.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the officers for their swift action and reiterated the command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements.
“The suspect during interrogation revealed the the location where the rifle was hidden. The operatives stormed the bush along the railway line in Agbarho where the gang members upon sighting the Police engaged the team in a fierce gun duel, during which four suspected kidnappers sustained serious gunshot injuries. One AK-47 Rifle with one magazine was recovered.
“The injured suspects were taken to the general hospital Ughelli for treatment but were later confirmed dead by the doctor. Corpses have been deposited at the hospital morgue while the effort to trail and arrest the fleeing hoodlums is ongoing,” Edafe’s statement read.
