The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended two suspected armed robbers following a coordinated operation in Wuse Zone 7, Abuja.

According to security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the arrest took place in the early hours of March 5, around 4:15 a.m. The police acted swiftly after receiving intelligence on the robbery.

Reports indicate that a gang of five armed robbers, operating in a black Golf 3 vehicle, stormed a residence on Lome Crescent, Wuse Zone 7. The criminals allegedly stole electronic appliances and two mobile phones from the occupants before attempting to escape.

Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Wuse Division deployed a combined team of operatives led by Superintendent Luka Ayuba to the scene.

“Two suspects, Abubakar Kama of Kaduna Road and Usma Haruna, 25, of Dei-Dei, were arrested,” sources said.

According to the report, the suspects were almost lynched by an angry mob before security operatives intervened, adding that one of them, who sustained injuries due to mob action, was taken to Wuse General Hospital for treatment.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the robbery, while efforts were ongoing to track down the three fleeing gang members.
