Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has called on the South East Development Commission (SEDC) to prioritize transforming the region into a unified economic hub while fostering large-scale infrastructural development to attract investors.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the SEDC Board and Management at the Government House in Enugu, Governor Mbah emphasized the importance of regional collaboration in advancing economic growth and infrastructure.

He highlighted the potential of a well-integrated South East market in boosting trade, industrialization, and job creation.

The governor also extended his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for finally establishing the SEDC after years of unsuccessful attempts.

He praised the President’s decision to appoint competent professionals to lead the Commission, expressing optimism that their expertise would drive meaningful development in the region.

He assured the Commission of his full support and cooperation, noting that their goals align with the ongoing development projects in Enugu State.

In response, the Chairman of SEDC, Chief Chukwuemeka Wogu, and Managing Director, Mr. Mark Okoye—represented by Executive Director of Projects, Hon. Toby Okechukwu—praised Governor Mbah for his swift and comprehensive infrastructural development in Enugu.

They highlighted several key initiatives of the Commission, including the South East Security Intervention Programme, Regional Economic Programme, Agro-Mechanisation Programme, and the South East Venture Capital Fund, among others.

These programs aim to enhance security, economic growth, youth empowerment, and infrastructure in the South East region.
