Panic as Kaduna–Abuja passenger train derails

Commuters along the busy Kaduna–Abuja corridor were thrown into panic on Tuesday morning after a passenger train derailed midway through its journey.
The incident occurred around 11:00 a.m., with eyewitnesses confirming that several cabins overturned, forcing frightened passengers to scramble for safety. Some travelers reportedly sustained minor injuries while attempting to escape the wreckage.
Although the immediate cause of the derailment has not been confirmed, previous disruptions on the Kaduna–Abuja rail line have often been linked to vandalism and the activities of railway scavengers who tamper with critical infrastructure.
As at the time of this report, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) and relevant security agencies had yet to issue an official statement on the accident.
