Niger commissioner, Chinese investors visit Rabba for agro-processing project inspection

As part of the New Niger Agenda championed by the administration of Governor Umaru Bago, the Niger State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Alhaji Aminu Takuma, led a delegation of Chinese investors to Rabba in Mokwa Local Government Area for a site inspection aimed at establishing agro-processing industries.
The visit, which took place on July 16, 2025, kicked off with a courtesy call on the traditional ruler of Rabba, the Ndashi of Rabba, Engr. Alhaji Umaru Tswako. During the meeting, Commissioner Takuma sought the royal father’s support and the community’s endorsement for the proposed development, highlighting the transformative potential of the agro-industrial project.
Speaking at the event, Alhaji Takuma emphasized Governor Bago’s commitment to turning Rabba into a model beneficiary of the state’s agricultural industrialization drive. He noted that the project would create jobs, boost local production, and improve the economic fortunes of residents.
He was accompanied by Mr. Yomi, Chairman of the Niger State Special Agro-Processing Zone (SAPZ), and Hon. Zakariyau Rabba, Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Addressing the elders and traditional leaders, Alhaji Takuma outlined the benefits the project promises to deliver, including stable electricity, improved road networks, employment opportunities, and overall economic growth for the Rabba community.
In response, the Ndashi expressed the community’s full support and appointed representatives to join the inspection team. The delegation toured many potential project sites including farmlands, the banks of the River Niger, and former facilities used by Sunflag Agro Nigeria Limited.
Impressed by the location and available resources, the Chinese investors expressed strong interest and pledged to commence operations as soon as all necessary approvals and processes are completed.
