Early life

Zenande Feziwe Mfenyana was born in Kagiso, Gauteng on October 11th, 1985 but her upbringing took her to the Eastern Cape, where she spent her formative years in Queenstown.

She completed her secondary schooling at Queenstown Girls’ High School, where her passion for the arts began to take root.

Fueled by a desire to pursue acting professionally, she enrolled at the University of Pretoria, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama.

Her academic grounding laid a strong foundation for her acting career, blending talent with technical training.

Rise to fame

Zenande’s career catapulted to national prominence in 2011 when she landed the role of Noluntu Memela on SABC 1’s long-running and hugely popular soap opera Generations.

Her portrayal of Noluntu, a character known for her complex relationships and bold personality won over audiences and established her as a breakout star.

However, in 2014, her journey on Generations came to an abrupt end when she, alongside 15 fellow cast members, including stars like Connie Ferguson and Sophie Ndaba was dismissed from the show for participating in an industrial strike demanding better working conditions.

Despite the setback, Zenande bounced back stronger than ever. In 2015, she took on the lead role of Reba Namane in the e.tv drama series Ashes to Ashes.

Acting alongside veterans like Tina Jaxa and the late Menzi Ngubane, she brought emotional depth and charisma to the screen once again.

Her momentum continued with Igazi, a Xhosa-language supernatural drama produced by Ferguson Films.
