Nigeria’s Super Eagles edged past arch-rivals Ghana with a 2-1 victory on Tuesday evening, securing their place in the final of the Unity Cup in a thrilling encounter at the Gtech Community Stadium in London.

The match lived up to expectations, with both teams showing flashes of brilliance, but it was Nigeria’s early dominance that ultimately sealed the win.

Cyriel Dessers set the tone with a clinical finish in the 14th minute. The striker controlled a cross expertly with his chest before rifling a right-footed shot past Ghanaian goalkeeper Asare, sending Nigerian fans into celebration.

Just five minutes later, Nigeria’s lead was doubled—this time with a slice of luck. A free-kick whipped into the Ghanaian box was mistakenly headed into the net by defender Razak Simpson, giving the Super Eagles a 2-0 cushion.

Ghana fought back in the second half and got their reward in the 70th minute when Brandon Thomas-Asante calmly slotted home a low cross to reduce the deficit. Despite piling on late pressure, the Black Stars couldn’t find an equalizer, as Nigeria’s defense, led by goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, held firm.
