Nigerian sprint queen Tobi Amusan continues to blaze the trail in athletics, claiming victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2025 Rabat Diamond League with a blistering time of 12.45 seconds.

Her stunning performance not only earned her the top spot but also set a new Meeting Record and Season’s Best.

Amusan’s time shattered the previous meet record of 12.51 seconds, held by American hurdler Brianna McNeal since 2018. Dutch athlete Nadine Visser followed in second place with a time of 12.67 seconds, while Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska clinched third with 12.69 seconds.

After the race, Amusan attributed her success to increased hurdles practice, stating she had been focusing more on sprinting but returned to hurdle drills, which made a significant difference. This adjustment paid off, as she delivered a standout performance in Rabat.

The victory in Morocco signals a return to form for the 2022 world champion, who had a slow start to the 2025 season. Amusan’s win in Rabat firmly places her as a serious medal contender for the World Championships.

In other events, South African sprinter Akani Simbine dominated the men’s 100m, winning with a time of 9.95 seconds. Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala finished second, while American Fred Kerley came third.
