Alex Onyia, often nicknamed ‘the Sultan of software’, is a Nigerian entrepreneur, software expert, and the dynamic CEO of Educare, Africa’s foremost education technology platform for K-12 learning.

As CEO and founder, Alex has built a system that currently supports over 1,400 schools and serves more than one million students and 300,000 parents across Nigeria, Tanzania, the UK, and the US.

Educare simplifies school operations with tools for managing academics, HR, finance, and administration, making education smarter and more efficient.

Early beginnings

Born on May 15, 1987 and originally an indigene of Enugu State, Nigeria, Alex has transformed the digital learning landscape across Africa.

Nicknamed the “Sultan of Software,” he is widely respected for his mission-driven approach to technology, especially in education and social development.

Academic background

Though Alex studied Agricultural and Bio-resources Engineering at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, his true calling was in software development.

Long before graduation, he had already begun building websites and custom software for businesses.

To sharpen his skills further, he earned a Certified Internet Webmaster certificate, which equipped him with the technical expertise to thrive in the fast-evolving tech world.

A Career rooted in impact

Before founding Educare, Alex worked on various high-impact projects across Sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian subcontinent, focusing on education and electronic payment solutions.

His roles as a software developer and later a strategic business development manager gave him exposure to the real-world challenges and opportunities in emerging markets.

Birth of Educare

In 2014, Alex developed a school management system for Lekki British School.

The success of that project inspired him to transform the idea into a full-fledged business Educare.

Rather than continue with one-off contracts, he saw the opportunity to build a sustainable product that could solve real problems in education.

Today, Educare is used in schools across Nigeria, Tanzania, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Tech leadership across Africa

Beyond Educare, Alex serves as Head of Products at Winexviv International Limited, where he leads developer-focused programs across Sub-Saharan Africa.

His mission is to drive the tech ecosystem forward using web and mobile platforms.

He also partnered with Facebook’s Platform Partnerships team for the Middle East and Africa, helping developers and content creators make the platform more relevant to daily life in emerging markets.

Advocacy

Outside his business roles, Alex Onyia is an active voice on social media, where he shares motivational content and engages in conversations on youth empowerment and national development.

He is committed to using his platform and experience to inspire others and create meaningful change.

Private life

Despite his increasing influence in tech and education, Alex Onyia remains a private individual.

He is happily married, but keeps his personal life away from public attention. His focus remains firmly on driving progress and innovation in the sectors he’s passionate about.

Net worth

Alex Onyia’s estimated net worth is $3 million. His wealth comes from his success in education, technology, and business ventures.

Through Educare and his other initiatives, Alex has not only created value but also built a sustainable business model that continues to grow.

His visionary mindset, coupled with hard work and innovation, has made him one of the most influential tech entrepreneurs in Africa today.
