North Central Governors unite to tackle insecurity, drive regional development

In a decisive move to address escalating security challenges and spur development, governors from Nigeria’s North Central region have agreed to adopt a united front.
The resolution was reached during a strategic meeting at the Nasarawa State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, chaired by Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, who also leads the North Central Governors’ Forum.
Governor Sule condemned the recent violent attacks in Plateau, Benue, and Kwara states, reaffirming the forum’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. “We can no longer watch our region suffer. The time to act collectively is now,” he declared.
Key decisions from the meeting include enhancing intelligence-sharing, deepening inter-state cooperation, and fully utilizing the North Central Development Commission to execute critical infrastructure and economic initiatives.

The governors also identified agriculture and mining as central pillars of the region’s economic revival, with Governor Sule calling for increased collaboration with the Federal Government, private sector, and international development partners.
Present at the meeting were governors from Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, and Plateau States marking a strong show of solidarity in the face of shared regional challenges.
