Take charge of your safety – Danjuma urges Nigerians

Retired Defence Minister, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma, has once again urged Nigerians to take their personal safety into their own hands as the country continues to grapple with relentless attacks by bandits and criminal groups.
Speaking during a public event in Takum, Taraba State, on Saturday, the former Army Chief expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation.
He referenced a similar warning he issued five years ago, emphasizing that the current wave of violence has only reinforced the need for citizens to be proactive in safeguarding themselves and their communities.
“The warning I gave some years ago is still as valid today as it was then. Nigerians must rise and defend themselves,” he said.
Danjuma expressed deep concern over the increasing violence in Benue, Plateau, and other parts of the country, noting that his fears had once again been confirmed by the recent wave of killings.

“We cannot continue to sit and watch while bandits, terrorists, and criminal gangs massacre our people unchecked,” he stated.
A native of Takum himself, Danjuma criticized the government’s handling of the security situation and emphasized the need for local communities to take proactive steps to safeguard lives and property.
“It is now very clear that the government alone cannot protect us. We must stand up and defend ourselves, our families, and our lands before these criminals overrun the entire country,” he added.
His remarks come in the wake of renewed attacks in Plateau and Benue states that have claimed numerous lives and displaced residents in affected areas.
