Ex-Enugu guber candidate, Edeoga returns to PDP after leaving LP

Prominent Enugu politician, Barrister Chijioke Edeoga, has officially rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), marking a significant political shift in the state.

His return follows weeks of deliberations with the PDP leadership, signaling a renewed alliance with the party.

Edeoga initially parted ways with the PDP after the party’s primary election, choosing instead to contest under the Labour Party (LP).

His move positioned him as a formidable challenger to the PDP’s candidate and current Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah.

Before this development, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state had also attempted to woo Edeoga into their ranks.

Indications that Edeoga has settled for the PDP became clearer last week when he met with the LP stakeholders in his Isi-Uzo Local Government Area and threw both options to them. The stakeholders said they were more disposed to his rejoining the PDP.

On Monday, today, Edeoga finally arrived at the PDP secretariat in Enugu, describing his return as “home coming”.

Edeoga appreciated the State chairman of PDP, Chukwunweike for midwifing the process of his return which crystalized today.

He stated that His Excellency Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has demonstrated rare and uncommon leadership since assumption of office, as governor of Enugu State, breaking new grounds and repositioning the state.

He noted that his decision to rejoin the PDP steams from Governor Mbah’s obvious commitment to development and upliftment of the state, which aligns with his own vision for the state, had he been declared governor.

Barr. Edeoga says he is happy to return to the PDP, noting that his driving force in politics is the passion to serve and since the governor is doing well, he has every reason to support him in the interest of the state.
