Kwankwaso hosts Obasanjo at Kano residence

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at his residence in Kano State.
Obasanjo was received by Kwankwaso alongside the NDC governorship candidate in Kano State, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.
Confirming the visit, Kwankwaso’s media aide, Saifullahi Hassan, described the meeting as an opportunity for “warm exchanges” between the leaders but did not disclose details of their discussions.

Kwankwaso served as Minister of Defence during Obasanjo’s second term in office between 2003 and 2007, and the two politicians have maintained a cordial relationship since then.
The NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is also regarded as a political ally of the former president.
Obasanjo publicly supported Obi during the 2023 presidential election, while reports have suggested he played a key role in facilitating the political alliance between Obi and Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 general election.
