4 Kano House of Reps dump NNPP for ADC

Four members of the House of Representatives of Nigeria from Kano State have defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in a move that could reshape the political landscape in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The lawmakers announced their defection amid ongoing realignments within opposition parties, a trend that has intensified as political actors position themselves for future contests.
The lawmakers are Sani Wakili (Minjibir/Ungogo federal constituency), Muktar Zakari (Tarauni federal constituency), Umar Datti (Kura/Madobi/Garun Mallam federal constituency), and Abdulhakeem Ado (Wudil/Garko federal constituency).
Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of the house, read the defection notices during plenary on Wednesday.
Kabiru Amadu, better known as Maipalace, representing Gusau/Tsafe federal constituency of Zamfara state, and Emeka Chinedu (Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihitte federal constituency, Imo), also moved from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC),

The legislators cited internal crisis in their former parties as the reason for their defection.
The ADC has gained several lawmakers in recent weeks ahead of the 2027 elections.
On Tuesday, Thaddeus Attah (Eti-Osa federal constituency, Lagos), Usman Zubairu (Birnin Gwari/Giwa federal constituency, Kaduna), and Sani Noma (Argungu/Augie federal constituency, Kebbi) left the Labour Party (LP) and the APC for the ADC, respectively.
