ICPC summons El-Rufai after alleged abduction attempt

Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna State, has revealed that he has been invited by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for questioning.
El-Rufai made the disclosure on Friday via a post on X, Nigeria’s social media platform. He noted that the invitation comes in the wake of what he described as a failed attempt to abduct him, though details of the incident remain scarce.
He wrote, “Yesterday, after the futile attempt to abduct me, the ICPC delivered a letter to invite me to their office.”

He added, “My lawyer has written to confirm that I will be attending the ICPC office on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.”
Officials of the ICPC had made attempts to arrest El-Rufai at the Abuja Airport on Thursday, but they were resisted by friends and associates of the former governor.
