Tears as 2 killed, 3 abducted as gunmen raid Benue community

A deadly attack by suspected gunmen in Iwanev community, Ugbema Junction, Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State, has left two people dead and three others abducted.
According to sources, the assailants struck under the cover of darkness, killing two residents instantly and taking three others to an unknown location. The identities of the attackers remain unclear, and authorities are yet to release statements on efforts to rescue the abducted individuals or secure the area.
The attack has thrown the community into fear and panic, with residents expressing concern over the worsening security situation and the possibility of further assaults.

Residents have appealed to the Benue State Government, led by Governor Hyacinth Alia, as well as the chairman of Buruku Local Government Area, Hon. Raymond Zege Aondoakura, to take immediate and decisive action to restore peace and protect lives and property.
They also called on security agencies to intensify patrols and launch thorough investigations aimed at apprehending the perpetrators and securing the safe release of the abducted victims.
Meanwhile, efforts to confirm the incident from the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet, were unsuccessful as at the time of this report.
