Impeachment: Rivers Chief Judge declines to set up probe panel on Gov Fubara

The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Amadi, has declined a request to constitute a judicial panel to investigate Governor Siminalayi Fubara, citing an existing court order restraining such action.
The decision follows a request by the Rivers State House of Assembly, which had asked the Chief Judge to set up a seven-member judicial panel to probe Governor Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, over allegations bordering on gross misconduct.

Justice Amadi explained that his refusal was based on legal constraints, noting that the court order prevents him from taking steps that could interfere with ongoing judicial proceedings related to the matter.
