Fubara, deputy face impeachment as Rivers lawmakers petition Judiciary

The Rivers State House of Assembly has confirmed its decision to proceed with the impeachment of Governor Siminalaye Fubara and his deputy, Nma Odu.
During a plenary session on Friday, all 26 lawmakers unanimously agreed to advance the impeachment proceedings, signaling a significant development in the state’s political landscape.
Following the resolution, the Assembly decided to formally notify the Chief Judge of the state, in line with Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The legislators are requesting the Chief Judge to set up a seven-member investigative panel to probe the allegations of gross misconduct brought against both officials.
