Breaking…Rivers Speaker, Amaewhule,15 Lawmakers defect from PDP to APC

The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, has confirmed that he and 15 other lawmakers have officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), TheLeader reports.
Amaewhule explained that the lawmakers’ decision was driven by what he described as a “clear and worsening division” within the PDP. According to him, the internal crisis has made it increasingly difficult for members to function effectively under the party’s platform, prompting their move to the APC.
He added that the prevailing situation in the opposition party compelled them to take a “decisive and forward-looking political step” in the interest of their constituencies and the state.

The defection marks a significant shift in the political landscape of the Rivers Assembly and is expected to have far-reaching implications for the balance of power and governance in the state.
