In a bold move to enhance agricultural productivity, the Jigawa State Executive Council has approved over ₦1.5 billion for the establishment of the Jigawa Farm Mechanization Service Company.

This initiative is set to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness across the state’s agricultural value chains.

The State Commissioner for Information, Youths, Sports, and Culture, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed, made this announcement following a recent council meeting in Dutse. He further revealed that an additional ₦969 million has been allocated to cover customs duties and taxes for agricultural equipment and spare parts imported from China, ensuring smooth operations for the new company.

In another strategic move, the council reviewed a draft bill proposing the establishment of the Jigawa State Flood Disaster Trust Fund. This initiative aligns with Governor Umar Namadi’s commitment to implementing long-term solutions to the state’s persistent flood challenges.

The bill has been approved by the council and forwarded to the State House of Assembly for legislative consideration. If passed, it will provide a structured response to flood-related disasters, safeguarding lives and livelihoods in Jigawa.

With these investments, Jigawa State is taking significant steps toward agricultural modernization and disaster resilience, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development.
