NSCDC murder suspect dies after jumping from moving vehicle in Jigawa

A 45-year-old man accused of involvement in the killing of an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State has died after leaping from a moving vehicle.
The tragic incident was confirmed on Saturday in Dutse by the NSCDC command’s spokesperson, ASC Badaruddeen Tijjani.
Recall that the slain officer was attacked at Shuwarin market in the Shuwarin District of Kiyawa Local Government Area while carrying out official duties.
The victim, Superintendent of the Corps (SC) Bashir Adamu-Jibril, served in the command’s Department of Intelligence and Investigation before his death.
Suspected to be butchers, the attackers allegedly struck him with a machete, causing a deep head injury.

Tijjani said the suspect, a resident of Shuwarin Town, was arrested on Thursday following credible intelligence linking him to the officer’s killing.
He explained that the arrest took place on August 7 in Shuwarin town.
“However, while transporting him to the command headquarters at high speed, the suspect miraculously freed himself from the handcuffs and jumped out of the moving vehicle in an attempt to escape.
“He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Dutse General Hospital for medical attention, where the suspect was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty,” he said.
Tijjani reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring justice for the slain officer and maintaining law and order across the state.
