Murtala Sule Garo sworn in as Kano Deputy Governor

Murtala Sule Garo has officially been sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Kano State following a formal ceremony held in the state capital.
Garo took the oath of office before the state’s Chief Judge in the presence of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, marking his official assumption of duty.
The swearing-in ceremony was witnessed by top government officials and political stakeholders in Kano.
Reacting to the development, former media aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, congratulated Garo via his X handle, wishing him success in his new role.

Garo previously served as Kano State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs before his nomination as Deputy Governor. He was appointed to fill the vacancy created after the resignation of former Deputy Governor Abdussalam Gwarzo.
The office became vacant on March 27, 2026, following Gwarzo’s resignation.
With his swearing-in, expectations are high that the new Deputy Governor will work closely with Governor Yusuf to strengthen governance and drive development initiatives across Kano State.
