Datti, who represents the Kura/Madobi/Garun Malam Federal Constituency in Kano State, announced his decision in a resignation letter dated April 30, 2026. The letter was addressed to the party chairman in Tanawa Ward, Kura Local Government Area.
According to the lawmaker, his resignation takes immediate effect, although he did not publicly disclose the reasons behind his decision.
The letter reads in full: “I write to formally tender my resignation as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), effective immediately from Thursday, 30 April, 2026.

“It has been a privilege to be associated with the party. However, recent developments at the national level have made it untenable for me to continue my participation and contribute meaningfully to the party’s activities.
“As the representative of the good people of Kura/Madobi/Garun Mallam Federal Constituency, I remain committed to making the necessary sacrifices to improve the lives of my constituents. My dedication to public service remains unwavering, irrespective of the path I choose.
