INEC reinstates David Mark-Led ADC NWC on portal

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reinstated the National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by David Mark on its official portal.

Details obtained from INEC’s website on Thursday indicate that the commission now recognises Mark as National Chairman of the party, effectively restoring his leadership within the ADC’s national structure.

Other members of the reinstated NWC include Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary, Mani Ibrahim Ahmad as National Treasurer, Akibu Dalhatu as National Financial Secretary, and Oserheimen Aigbera as National Legal Adviser.

The development follows a recent Supreme Court judgment which directed that the leadership dispute within the ADC be returned to the Federal High Court for full determination.

In a unanimous ruling delivered by a panel led by Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba, the apex court nullified earlier interim orders issued during the dispute, describing them as “unnecessary, improper and unwarranted.”

The court held that the substantive issues surrounding the party’s leadership should be thoroughly examined at the trial court, rather than being influenced by provisional directives.

INEC’s latest move marks a reversal of its earlier stance, when it removed the Mark-led leadership from its portal following a Court of Appeal judgment delivered on March 12, 2026.

At the time, the commission said its decision was based on the appellate court ruling and ongoing proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja, noting that it had also received conflicting submissions from legal representatives of rival factions within the party.

With the reinstatement, the Mark-led NWC regains official recognition—at least for now—pending the final resolution of the leadership dispute by the court.
