INEC begins voter education campaign in Kano

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has kicked off a large-scale voter education campaign at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
The commission urged residents to take full advantage of the initiative by revalidating their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of upcoming elections.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), INEC’s Enlightenment Officer in Kano, Garba Ashiru, disclosed this while briefing journalists in the state on Wednesday.
He said the initiative, which targeted eight metropolitan Local Government Areas, was aimed at raising awareness on voter participation and updating registration details.

According to Ashiru, the campaign seeks to mobilise voters and promote turnout by educating citizens on electoral processes.
The enlightenment officer said the programme would run for seven days with public sessions and community engagements.
“The exercise, in collaboration with Kano State Government, aims to strengthen democratic participation,” Ashiru said.
He appealed to residents to revalidate their PVCs and get accurate information to enable them to participate fully in the electoral process.
