Sununu resigns as Humanitarian Affairs Minister

The Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Yusuf Tanko Sununu, has resigned from his position to pursue a political career in Kebbi State.
Sununu confirmed his resignation on Monday, explaining that his decision aligns with existing regulations requiring political appointees to step down before seeking elective office.
When contacted to verify the development, the former minister affirmed via text message that he had officially stepped down from his role.

The former federal lawmaker, who represented Shanga, Yauri, and Ngaski Federal Constituency, is reportedly planning to contest for the Kebbi South Senatorial District seat in the 2027 elections.
Sununu previously served as Kebbi State Minister of Education before being redeployed to the Humanitarian Affairs Ministry. He is credited with impactful social projects in the state under both appointments, contributing positively to the lives of residents.
