Former Lawmaker praises Wike’s role in APC’s success in FCT Area Council Elections, predicts Tinubu’s re-election 

A former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Bekwarra/Obanliku/Obudu Federal Constituency in Cross River State, Legor Idagbo, has applauded the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his role in the recent electoral victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the FCT area council elections.

Speaking during an interview in Abuja, Idagbo described Wike’s leadership as strategic and impactful, noting that his administrative approach has helped strengthen the presence and acceptance of the ruling party within the nation’s capital.

According to him, the outcome of the area council elections reflects the confidence residents have in the current leadership and the policies being implemented in the territory.

“Wike has demonstrated strong leadership in the FCT, and the success of the APC in the area council elections is a clear indication that people appreciate the work being done. Governance that delivers results will always attract the support of the people,” he said.

The former lawmaker also expressed confidence that the achievements of the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu will ultimately translate into electoral victory in the next presidential election.

He predicted that President Tinubu would secure a second term in office in 2027, noting that ongoing reforms and developmental initiatives would continue to strengthen public support for the administration.

“I strongly believe that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be re-elected in 2027. Nigerians are beginning to see the results of the reforms and policies being implemented, and with time the benefits will become even more evident,” Idagbo stated.

Addressing concerns in some quarters about the possibility of Nigeria drifting toward a one-party state, the former legislator dismissed such fears, saying political alignment often reflects public confidence in a party’s capacity to deliver governance.

He argued that democracy allows citizens and political actors to freely associate with parties that they believe can meet their aspirations.

“The issue of a one-party state should not be seen as a threat to democracy.

In a democratic system, people naturally gravitate toward platforms they believe can deliver development and good governance,” he explained.

Idagbo added that the growing support for the APC is largely driven by the policies and governance approach of the Tinubu administration, which he said is focused on delivering democratic dividends to Nigerians.

He maintained that as long as government policies continue to improve the lives of citizens, political support for the ruling party will continue to expand across the country.
