NUJ FCT Chairman urges unity, national renewal as Ramadan, Lent begin

As Muslims and Christians across Nigeria begin the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Grace Ike, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, sacrifice, and prayers for national renewal.
In a goodwill message marking the start of both holy seasons, Ike extended warm greetings to all faithful in the Federal Capital Territory and across the country. She described Ramadan and Lent as special periods of fasting, prayer, and reflection that remind people of the importance of sacrifice, discipline, compassion, and love for humanity.
According to her, these sacred moments offer Nigerians a chance to grow spiritually, strengthen their moral values, and recommit to peaceful coexistence. She noted that at a time when the nation is seeking unity, stability, and progress, citizens should use the season to pray for the country, its leaders, and lasting peace.

The NUJ chairman also stressed the role of journalists in promoting harmony. She reaffirmed the commitment of media professionals to truthful, fair, and responsible reporting that encourages understanding among Nigeria’s diverse communities.
Ike urged both Muslims and Christians to let the lessons of Ramadan and Lent inspire them to become ambassadors of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect.
She concluded by wishing all faithful a spiritually fulfilling season, expressing hope that the prayers and sacrifices offered during this period would bring renewed hope, unity, and prosperity to Nigeria.
