Scores feared dead as trailer crashes into residents in Kano community

A tragic road accident has claimed the lives of at least 30 people at Kwanar Barde in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State after a trailer reportedly lost control and crashed while travelling towards Gujungu.
Witnesses said the heavy-duty vehicle was being driven recklessly before the driver lost control, leading to the devastating collision that left dozens dead at the scene.
Several others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention. The condition of some of the victims is said to be critical.
In a statement, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, through his spokesperson Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as a huge loss for the victims’ families and the entire state.

The governor prayed for the repose of the deceased and for strength for their families to bear the loss. He also directed that all injured victims receive free medical care and ordered immediate deployment of medical and humanitarian teams to the scene.
Governor Yusuf further instructed the Ministry of Health to ensure timely and adequate treatment for all hospitalized victims. Additionally, the Office of the Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs has been tasked with assessing the situation and providing support to the bereaved families.
The governor warned motorists, particularly drivers of heavy-duty vehicles, to avoid reckless driving and strictly adhere to traffic regulations to prevent future tragedies.
