The Libyan government has deported a group of Nigerian migrants as part of its ongoing efforts to curb illegal migration and strengthen border control measures.

According to Libyan authorities, the deportation was carried out through Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli, where the affected migrants were processed and returned to their home country.

In a statement shared on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, the Ministry responsible for migration matters said the move forms part of a broader national programme aimed at tackling irregular migration across the country.

The ministry noted that all necessary legal and humanitarian procedures were completed before the deportation took place, ensuring the process complied with established regulations.

Officials also stressed that similar operations would continue under a comprehensive strategy designed to reduce the flow of undocumented migrants through Libyan territory, while safeguarding national security and stability.
