Only loyal APC members should get appointments in 2027 – Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that political appointments in 2027 should be reserved strictly for loyal party members.
Yilwatda stated that rewarding party faithful must become a priority, stressing that those who worked tirelessly for the party’s success deserve recognition rather than outsiders.
He made the remarks in Abuja during the “Renewed Hope Promise Kept 2027” meet-and-greet event aimed at mobilising youths from the North-West. The gathering was organised by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo.
The APC national chairman said members of the party will be encouraged to take up political appointments and not technocrats.
Yilwatda said technocrats should be engaged as consultants rather than appointed to political positions.
“In 2027, as the party chairman, I will stand strong to defend the position that if you are not prepared to join us, you should not be given appointments,” he said.

“We encourage and support the members of the political party to be in a position.
“If you are a technocrat, go and be a consultant but not take political appointments and not go back to support the party that brought you to power.
“If all of the appointees decided to become technocrats, the party will never return back to power. So, there is nothing like technocrats.
“As the party chairman, I stand with the position that they (referring to non-APC members who were offered appointments) are political appointees of our party, the APC.”
The APC national chairman said the north-west geopolitical zone has the highest registered members so far in the party’s ongoing electronic registration exercise.
The stance of the APC national chairman might affect the reappointment of Nyesom Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in 2027.
