Police nap 3 suspected kidnappers, recover locally made weapons in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested three men suspected to be involved in a kidnapping operation in Shanga Local Government Area of the state.
The arrests were made during a security operation by officers of the command, who also recovered several locally made weapons believed to have been used by the suspects.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed the arrests in a statement issued to journalists on Friday.
According to the police, the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on criminal activities and improve security across the state, particularly in areas prone to kidnapping and banditry.
The suspects, identified as Abubakar Muhammadu, Abdullahi Majo, and Ali Alhaji Jemu, were picked up at Bagudo Market after police acted on what they described as “credible intelligence.”
Usman said the trio have been connected to the abduction of a 55-year-old man from Bani Koso Village.
“Two locally made firearms, a cartridge and three machetes were recovered,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Umar Mohammed Hadejia, has directed that the case be handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Birnin Kebbi.
The suspects are to be charged in court after investigation.
The Command urged residents to report suspicious activities via its control room lines.
On Thursday, the Lagos State Police Command uncovered a den disguised as a shrine which was operated by suspected kidnappers in the Idimu area of the state.
The command also arrested 13 suspects in connection with the discovery.
