Meet Wola Joseph-Condotti, new EKEDC Boss

Wola Joseph-Condotti is a prominent figure in Nigeria’s power sector and currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Eko Electricity Distribution Company.

Her appointment followed the resignation of Rekhia Momoh and marked a return to an organisation where she had earlier played an important role in building its legal, regulatory and corporate governance structures.

Background

Joseph-Condotti studied law at the University of Ibadan, where she earned her first degree.

She later obtained a Master of Laws in International Finance Law from Harvard Law School and completed an MBA at INSEAD Business School.

In addition, she is a Board Evaluation Certified Professional and Corporate Governance Trainer certified by the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank.

Career at EKEDC

Her professional journey at Eko Electricity Distribution Company began with her appointment as the pioneer Chief Legal and Company Secretary.

During her time at EKEDC, she took on several strategic responsibilities that exposed her to different aspects of electricity distribution in Nigeria.

These roles included Head of Regulatory Compliance, Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer, Supervising Chief of the Customer Service Department and Data Protection Officer.

Legal practice

Outside EKEDC, Joseph-Condotti served as General Counsel and Company Secretary at Lagoon Home Savings and Loans.

Earlier in her career, she worked as a Legal Associate at Banwo & Ighodalo, where she built a strong foundation in corporate and commercial law.

Leadership in power and energy

Before becoming CEO of EKEDC, Joseph-Condotti was the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of West Power & Gas Limited, the parent company and former core investor in the electricity distribution firm.

Under her leadership, the company expanded its interests across both conventional power and renewable energy.

She is widely recognised as a thought leader in the energy sector, with strong interests in renewable energy, sustainability, carbon markets and carbon credits.

Professional Affiliations

Joseph-Condotti serves on several boards, where she provides advisory support on corporate governance, policy and business strategy.

Her board memberships include the Women in Energy Network, where she is a founding member, Electricity Law Reports, Prime-Rose Nursery and Primary School, Jimi Tewe Foundation, Newswire Law and Events Magazine, and the Public Affairs and Advocacy Committee of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

She is a member of the Institute of Directors and the Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria.

She is also an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria and belongs to Women in Management, Business and Public Service.

Personal life

Joseph-Condotti is of Yoruba origin and practices Christianity.

She is married to Hakeem Condotti, and their union is blessed with five children.

Awards and Recognitions

Joseph-Condotti’s contributions to the energy sector, corporate leadership and governance have earned her several notable recognitions.

She was listed among the Legal 500 GC Powerlist Nigeria Top 100 General Counsels in both 2024 and 2025. In April 2024, INSEAD Business School named her INSEADer of the Month.

She was also recognised among the Ascent Top 100 Career Women in Africa for 2025 and named one of the Top 100 Most Inspiring Women in Africa by the Enterprising Women Awards Africa in 2024.

In 2019, the LKS Seminar Legal Magazine ranked her 11th among Nigeria’s Top 50 General Counsels, while Legal Blitz in 2018 listed her among the Top 40 Under 40 Lawyers making significant impact in the legal profession.

Africa Oil Week named her one of Africa’s Most Inspirational Female Energy Executives in 2024. Most recently, she emerged as the first-ever winner of the Legal Era Leadership Excellence Award of the Year in 2025.
