NIWA Managing Director Bola Oyebamiji resigns

One of the key appointees in the administration of President Bola Tinubu, Bola Oyebamiji, has resigned from his position as Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
Oyebamiji confirmed his resignation in a message released on Friday night, noting that his decision aligns with electoral guidelines as he prepares to contest the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
He expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve at NIWA and hinted that his next political move would be unveiled in due course.
He said, “Yes, I have resigned in accordance with the electoral law to pursue my Osun 2026 governorship ambition.”

A close associate of the former NIWA chief also corroborated the development, linking the move directly to his political plans.
“Yes, he has resigned. He is contesting, and he wants to face the election properly,” the source stated.
Before assuming leadership at NIWA, Oyebamiji twice served as Osun State Commissioner for Finance and later worked as Special Adviser to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
He is widely regarded for his background in banking, economics, public administration and politics.
