NRC announces resumption of Warri–Itakpe train service

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that the Warri–Itakpe Train Service will officially resume operations on Wednesday following a brief suspension.
The development was confirmed by the NRC’s Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, in a statement issued to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos.
“The temporary suspension was necessary to carry out critical repairs, maintenance, and system checks on the track and rolling stock to ensure the comfort, reliability and safety of passengers.
“The online booking portal will be opened by noon on Monday, about 48 hours ahead of resumption, via https://nrc-fane.ng.
“Passengers are encouraged to secure their tickets early through the portal or at designated stations,” he said.

Opeifa added that the resumed service would operate with seven coaches six for standard class and one for business class.
He further explained that a new train timetable, which includes temporary speed restrictions to enhance safety and allow for operational monitoring, would be published on Monday.
“The corporation sincerely apologises to its esteemed passengers and stakeholders for the inconveniences experienced during the period of suspension and appreciates their patience and understanding,” he said.
The NRC boss reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to providing safe, reliable, and efficient rail transport as full passenger operations return along the Warri–Itakpe route.
