Prince Harry makes surprise visit to Kyiv to support wounded Ukrainians

Prince Harry made an unannounced visit to Kyiv on Friday, arriving by train after being invited by a Ukrainian charity that supports people with life-changing injuries caused by the war.

The Duke of Sussex said he wanted to do “everything possible” to assist the recovery of injured military personnel during the ongoing conflict.

The organisation Superhumans, which provides prosthetic limbs and rehabilitation services to those injured in the war, confirmed it had extended the invitation.

Founder Olha Rudnieva personally welcomed the prince at the station, greeting him with a hug and presenting him with a podstakannik – a traditional silver holder for a tea glass, long associated with overnight train journeys across Ukraine.

Harry previously visited a Superhumans centre in Lviv in April, but this was his first trip to the Ukrainian capital.

His visit underscores continued international support for Ukrainians living with the consequences of the conflict.

The surprise arrival was captured on video by Ukrainian Railways, showing a relaxed encounter between the duke and Rudnieva.

Superhumans said the royal’s presence would help raise global awareness of the challenges facing Ukraine’s injured veterans and civilians.
