PDP confirms Damagum as national chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially confirmed Umar Damagum as the party’s National Chairman, ending months of speculation about its leadership.
The decision was taken on Monday during the party’s 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at its headquarters in Abuja.
Damagum has been serving in an acting capacity since March 2023, following the suspension of former chairman Iyorchia Ayu, a move later upheld by the courts. Before assuming the acting role, he served as PDP Deputy National Chairman (North).

His confirmation comes at a strategic time, as the PDP positions itself for upcoming political battles, including the 2027 general elections, signaling continuity and stability within the party’s top leadership.
