Man arrested for gruesome murder of pregnant sister-in-law

Residents of Temidire community, Egbejila Road, Ilorin, Kwara State, were thrown into shock and mourning after the police arrested a 29-year-old man accused of brutally murdering his pregnant sister-in-law, Mrs. Esther Enemo.
According to the Kwara State Police Command, the horrific act occurred in the early hours of Thursday, August 21, 2025. The suspect allegedly killed and dismembered the victim, an incident that has left the community terrified and outraged.
“At about 9 a.m., a resident of the area, reported a suspected foul play within the residence of one Mrs Esther Enemo,” Ejire-Adeyemi said.
Detectives who visited the scene reportedly found the 39-year-old victim’s mutilated remains dumped in a bush behind her house. Additional body parts were later discovered hidden in a sack under a nearby bridge.
“The suspect, (names withheld), aged 29 years, younger brother to the victim’s husband, who was seen leaving the house a few minutes before the discovery of the incident, has been arrested in connection with the crime,” she added.

Ejire-Adeyemi said the victim’s husband had been contacted for clarification, while the corpse was deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) morgue for autopsy.
According to her, Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi has ordered “a full-scale investigation into the matter, assuring that the command will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is served.”
The spokesperson urged residents to remain calm and avoid spreading rumors that could heighten fear in the community.
Ejire-Adeyemi reiterated that the command is determined to “unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring the perpetrators to face the full weight of the law.”
She further appealed for public cooperation, encouraging residents to provide information useful to the ongoing investigation, adding that the police would continue working to ensure peace and security across the state.
