Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has dismissed two senior government officials after separate investigations uncovered serious misconduct involving the controversial release of a suspected drug trafficker and the alleged diversion of palliative grain supplies.

The announcement was made on Saturday in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Ibrahim, who said the decision was based on “damning findings” from special investigative panels set up to probe the incidents.

One of the officials, Abubakar Umar Sharada, Senior Special Assistant on Political Mobilisation, was reportedly identified by investigators as the “mastermind” behind securing bail for Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu, described as a suspected dangerous drug baron.

“The committee confirmed Sharada’s culpability through his own testimony, which established his direct involvement in the bail process,” the SSG revealed.

In a separate matter, Tasiu Adamu Al’amin Roba, Senior Special Assistant in the Cabinet Office, was relieved of his duties over allegations that he rebagged palliative grains in 2024 at a Sharada warehouse.

“Roba has been arraigned in court and faces charges of theft and criminal conspiracy for diverting public assets,” Ibrahim said.

He added that both men have until Monday, August 11, 2025, to return all government property in their possession and must stop presenting themselves as public officials.

Meanwhile, Hon. Musa Ado Tsamiya, Special Adviser on Drainages, was cleared of wrongdoing after a panel found no evidence to support the allegations against him.

Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s anti-corruption stance, warning appointees that the fight against graft remains a top priority.
“Our commitment to discipline, transparency, and zero tolerance for corruption is unwavering. Public officials must uphold the highest standards of integrity both in their official duties and private lives,” he said.

The statement further cautioned members of the public against conducting government-related business with the dismissed aides. “Whoever engages them on government issues does so at his or her own risk,” the SSG warned.
