Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha is a renowned Nigerian academic, educationist and politician who currently serves as the Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) in Anambra State.

Prior to her substantive appointment by Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo in 2025, she held the position in an acting capacity.

Born in Ubaha Nnobi, Idemmili South LGA of Anambra State on January 30, 1965, Kate Omenugha was raised in a family led by her father, Chief E.B. Nwagwu, a teacher whose frequent school transfers exposed her to various learning environments.

She attended schools in Neni, Adazi Nnukwu, and Adazi Ani for her primary education and later completed her secondary education at Maria Regina Comprehensive Secondary School, Nnewi.

In 1983, she obtained her NCE from Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe.

She proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, earning a B.A. in Education/English in 1987 and an M.A. in Mass Communication in 1998.

Her academic journey culminated in a PhD in Gender, Media, and Cultural Studies from the University of Gloucestershire, UK, in 2005.

After teaching in top secondary schools and rising to the position of Vice Principal, she joined Nnamdi Azikiwe University in 1998.
