Humble beginning
Born on December 8, 2000, in Orlu, Imo State, Chiamaka Nnadozie began nurturing her football dreams from a young age.
However, her passion wasn’t initially embraced at home. Her father strongly disapproved of her playing football, which forced Chiamaka to train in secrecy.
Despite the challenges, she found unwavering support in her mother, who not only encouraged her but also helped by purchasing her first pair of boots and covering for her when she went to train.
She pursued her education at Comprehensive Secondary School in Amakohia, Owerri, where she skillfully balanced academics with her growing commitment to football.
Career path
In 2016, her big break came when she joined Rivers Angels FC, one of Nigeria’s top women’s football teams.
She quickly became a fan favorite and played a pivotal role in the club’s success, winning the Nigerian Women’s Championship and multiple Women’s Cup titles.


Rise to stardom
Nnadozie represented Nigeria at youth levels, including the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, where she was named Player of the Match against Haiti.
She later graduated to the senior team and was part of the squad for the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations.
In 2019, she made history at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, becoming the youngest goalkeeper ever to keep a clean sheet at the tournament, during Nigeria’s 2–0 win over South Korea.

In January 2020, she signed with Paris FC in France’s Division 1 Féminine.
Over five seasons, she appeared in 97 league matches, led the club to victory in the 2024–25 Coupe de France Féminine, and starred in 16 UEFA Women’s Champions League games.
In April 2024, she became the first African and Nigerian to be crowned the Best Goalkeeper in France’s D1 Arkema, beating out top keepers from Lyon and PSG.
In June 2025, it was announced that Nnadozie would join Brighton & Hove Albion from July 1st after her contract with Paris FC ended.
She brings a wealth of top-level experience to the English Women’s Super League, continuing her career in one of the most competitive football environments in the world.
Achievements
At the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, she captained Nigeria against Olympic champions Canada, made key saves including a penalty stop from Christine Sinclair, and earned the Player of the Match award.
