President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate release of all outstanding match bonuses and allowances owed to Nigeria’s Super Falcons, offering a major morale boost just days before their crucial Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final against Morocco.

The announcement was made on Thursday by the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, who revealed that the approved funds cover all entitlements due to the team—including payments for the upcoming final match scheduled for July 26.

Dikko confirmed that the disbursement includes bonuses for players, coaches, and backroom staff, ensuring that all financial obligations have now been settled.

“This is the kind of sports administration we are building, one rooted in dignity, trust, and shared prosperity,” Dikko said. He added that future generations would come to value the reforms being implemented in the nation’s sports sector.

The payment directive also covers Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, who are set to compete in the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament in Côte d’Ivoire. According to Dikko, the team will also benefit from increased allowances and bonuses.

He further assured that the era of delayed or disputed payments is over, noting that timely disbursements will now become the norm going forward.
