Mob kills 2 suspected robbers in Benue community

Tensions have flared in the Maav-Ya community of Kwande Local Government Area, Benue State, following a tragic incident in which three suspected robbers were beaten to death by angry youths.
The Benue State Police Command confirmed the grim development, revealing that the victims—Zwanen Terzungwe, Iordepuu Gwa, and Aondongu Terna—were reportedly caught by members of the community over alleged involvement in criminal activities.
According to a police source who spoke under condition of anonymity, the suspects were dragged to the community council hall, where they were subjected to mob justice. Unfortunately, before security operatives could arrive at the scene, the suspects had already been beaten to death.

The perpetrators of the mob action reportedly fled the scene before the police arrived. Authorities have since evacuated the bodies of the deceased and deposited them at the Kwande General Hospital mortuary.
In response to the incident, the police condemned the act of jungle justice, warning residents against taking the law into their own hands. The command stressed that while criminal behavior will not be tolerated, due legal process must be followed.
